Sweet nothings
Article Abstract:
A diabetes nurse discusses her campaign to persuade the government to ban diabetic food labels on products because she feels they do not encourage diabetics to eat healthy food. The nurse has obtained signatures from 600 consultants and other medical staff across the United Kingdom. Diabetes costs the National Health Service 2.1 billion pounds sterling annually, it is the main cause of early blindness and accounts for half of non-traumatic lower limb amputations yet it receives very little publicity or political attention. The nurse wants to raise public awareness.
