Fate of 'Montagnier center' to be decided
Article Abstract:
A panel of 3 scientists, none of them an HIV researcher, will determine whether the AIDS research center operated by Luc Montagnier in New York City will stay open. The strongest possibility is for the center to be absorbed into a consortium of 9 research centers run by the City College of New York.

PACHA adopts more lenient stance to government efforts
Article Abstract:
The President's Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA) has fewer reasons to criticize the government's response to the AIDS crisis. Congress has funded an HIV research program at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and the NIH has created the Vaccine Research Center, currently located at the University of Michigan.
