Physician support for covering the uninsured: is the cup half empty or half full?
Article Abstract:
Many doctors support a national health insurance system but fewer think the federal government should be the sole payer, according to a survey of doctors published in 2003. More than 40 million Americans do not have health insurance and 80 million had no coverage for at least one month. Communities that have large numbers of uninsured people often experience cutbacks in health care services.

Increasing rates of primary liver cancer in the United States
Article Abstract:
The number of Americans who have liver cancer doubled between 1975 and 1998, according to data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program. The increase occurred in all ethnic groups and most age groups. The largest increase in new cases of liver cancer occurred in white men between the ages of 45 and 54. This could be due to a liver infection called hepatitis C.
