Clomiphene, metformin, or both for infertility in the polycystic ovary syndrome
Article Abstract:
A trial was designed to test the hypothesis that treatment of women with the polycystic ovary syndrome with extended-release metformin is more likely to result in a live birth than is treatment with clomiphene citrate and that the combination of the two therapies would result in the highest live-birth rate. It is found that clomiphene is superior to metformin in achieving live birth in infertile women with the polycystic ovary syndrome, although multiple birth is a complication.
