ORP150 protects against hypoxia/ischemia-induced neuronal death
Article Abstract:
The role of astrocytes in the ischemic process is examined by analyzing polypeptides exposed to hypoxia. Results indicate a 150kD protein, ORP150, contributes to the viability of cells in the midst of oxygen deprivation.

Human amyloid-(beta) synthesis and clearance rates as measured in cerebrospinal fluid in vivo
Article Abstract:
Accumulation of amyloid-(beta) in the brain and disease-causing mutations in amyloid precursor protein indicate dysregulation of production or clearance of A(beta) in Alzheimer disease. A method is prescribed to determine the production and clearance rates of proteins within the human central nervous system (CNS), which is estimated to be 7.6% ad 8.3% per hour, respectively, and this method may be used to search for novel biomarkers of the disease and to evaluate treatments.
