College health providers' knowledge, attitudes, and management practices of genital HPV infection
Article Abstract:
A survey of college health center nurse practitioners' and physicians' attitudes, knowledge and management techniques of genital HPV (human papillomavirus) found both groups had similar knowledge about the disease and its diagnosis but different management techniques. Health care providers tended to disagree with National Center for Disease Control guidelines and employ more aggressive measures in HPV treatment. The difficulty in treating HPV and the lack of consensus on effective treatments may explain the wide range of management practices used by health care providers.

Assisted suicide: nurse practitioners as providers?
Article Abstract:
Nurse practitioners (NPs) may soon find themselves in the legal position to assist in suicides or euthanize patients. NPs will need to define their own ethical standard when faced with these situations. Changes in state and federal law regarding assisted death and definitions of terms such as assisted death, euthanasia, allowing to die, and killing have been presented. NPs currently can prescribe the medications necessary to assist a patient's death.

Treating geriatric depression with SSRIs: what primary care practitioners need to know
Article Abstract:
Older adults commonly experience depression, but this can be effectively treated with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These drugs include paroxetine, fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline. Health care providers need to know SSRIs do not have the cardiovascular and sedative effects commonly associated with tricyclic antidepressants and are less likely to interfere with other medicines.
