Should nurses be allowed to diagnose?
Article Abstract:
The issue of diagnosis by nurses is debatable as it is felt that diagnosis is not the sole preserve of clinicians and it allows nurses to undertake systematic approaches to history taking and to make diagnoses enhances the care they offer. According to the other view, doctors are the ultimate decision makers and patients are their legal responsibility and that nurse's education does not prepare them to diagnose.
