Critical and constructive
Article Abstract:
Senior student nurses are reluctant to challenge existing practice which conflicts with theoretical education. They may conform through socialisation needs or fear of missing promotion. However, refusal to challenge may lower care standards. Assertiveness training may be necessary to produce the questioning staff required by Project 2000. Removing employee status from nurses on placement may facilitate a critical approach.

Nurses' role in nutritional assessment and screening: Part one of a two-part series
Article Abstract:
The importance of nutritional assessment and the basic tools for identifying those at risk of malnutrition are explored. Nutritional assessment is an essential part of the nursing role, and it is vital that patients who require additional nutritional support are identified early in order that appropriate referrals can be made and nutritional support provided.
