Reactions to topical medicaments and wound care products
Article Abstract:
Allergic contact dermatitis can arise from the use of topical medicaments, including wound care items. There is a particularly high risk in people with chronic wounds that are covered by dressings and bandages, and there is also an enhanced risk in elderly people. If contact dermatitis arises, it is advisable to avoid antiseptics and to avoid using adhesive tapes directly on the skin.
