Cutaneous manifestations associated with antiphospholipid antibodies in patients with suspected primary antiphospholipid syndrome: a case-control study
Article Abstract:
Antiphospholipid antibodies may play an important role in the development of cutaneous manifestations of primary antiphospholipid syndrome. Primary antiphospholipid syndrome is a group of disorders characterized by arterial and venous blood clots, repeated miscarriages and abnormally low levels of platelets in the circulating blood. A study examined the association between antiphospholipid antibodies and skin disorders in 35 patients with the symptoms of primary antiphospholipid syndrome. Thirteen patients were positive for antiphospholipid antibodies and 22 were negative. Different cutaneous disorders were associated with the presence of phospholipid antibodies. These included moderate to severe livedo reticularis, acrocyanosis and capillaritis. Patients positive for antiphospholipid antibodies also had several other rare skin disorders.

Platelet and endothelial activation are requisites for the development of antiphospholipid syndrome
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted on patients to examine the arterial or venous thrombotic episode. In all 40 patients are examined, 20 of which were suffering from antiphospholipid syndrome, 10 were suffering from primary disease and the other 10 were suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus, the results of which are discussed.
