Effects of nabumetone compared with naproxen on platelet aggregation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Article Abstract:
Naproxen seems to be much more effective than nabumetone in inhibiting platelet aggregation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Given that many RA patients require non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, those with an increased risk of bleeding might find this difference relevant. In a crossover study of 10 patients, all patients used one anti-inflammatory or the other for two weeks, did a cleaning-out period for two weeks, then used the other for two weeks. Platelet aggregation was studied and bleeding time measured before and after each period of treatment.

Anti-inflammatory effects of systemic anti-tumour necrosis factor alpha treatment in human/murine SCID arthritis
Article Abstract:
Antibodies against tumor necrosis factor alpha reduce joint swelling and serum amyloid P levels, and increase serum interleukin 6 levels in severely immunodeficient (SCID) mice bearing a human gene for rheumatoid arthritis synovial membrane.
