Damage limitation
Article Abstract:
Accident and Emergency, (A&E), departments have to cope with about 150,000 people with self-harm injuries each year. They are deficient in protocols, service philosophy, staff support and training in self-harm management. It is suggested that an on-call advocacy system could limit the damage that a visit to A&E can inflict on such patients.

Evaluating a new role to support mentors in practice
Article Abstract:
A study focusing on the importance of counseling new student recruits at the pre-registration level by the learning community education adviser (LCEA) is presented. Results show that counseling prepared students for the task ahead and mentors in turn needed organizational support to successfully carry out the job assigned to them.
