Decision-making in A&E by expert nurses
Article Abstract:
The use of triage telephone assessment has been introduced at the accident and emergency (A&E) unit of the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, UK, in an attempt to help prioritize patient care. The triage assessment is based on nurses using a hypothesis-based clinical decision making process, aided by skilled questioning and expert knowledge techniques. Intuition often plays an important role in deciding if a patient should present at the A&E unit after being assessed on the telephone.

Understanding urine testing
Article Abstract:
Urine testing is a routine part of nursing assessment, which is one of the first clinical skills that nurses are taught, and is also an essential component of any continence assessment. The way the urine testing can assist in the diagnosis and management of continence and the correct procedures for the collection and testing of specimens are discussed.
