Designer egg evaluation in a controlled trial
Article Abstract:
A designer egg enriched in vitamin E, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and lutein can make a significant contribution to improving nutritional status. It is possible that the enhancement of plasma DHA concentrations by eating designer eggs could lead to beneficial effects on a number of health-related parameters, including cardiovascular function. A key aspect of designer eggs is the synergistic combination of n-3 fatty acids with major antioxidants, lutein and vitamin E.

Antihypertensive activity of a vegetable fibre preparation: a preliminary, double-blind, placebo-controlled study
Article Abstract:
The comparison of the effects of two different doses of a dietary fibre addition in 16 patients with little essential arterial hypertension find that a dietary fiber supplement lowers the blood pressure. This BP-lowering is unrelated to the body weight, alvus, amount of sodium-potassium and calcium, glucose-insulin mechanism, or the hypophysis-adrenal cortex axis. The dietary fiber supplement (7 g per day) lowers the supine and standing systolic and diastolic BP.

Effects of caffeine on glucose tolerance: a placebo-controlled study
Article Abstract:
Much controversy surrounds the relationship between coffee intake and glucose tolerance. A new study investigates whether caffeine effects glucose tolerance. The study of 30 non-smoking individuals, given both caffeine and a placebo, shows that caffeine ingestion may cause an insulin-dependent rise in levels of blood glucose.
