Developing nurse consultancy in clinical practice
Article Abstract:
The role of nurse consultants, posts which the UKCC has suggested be developed as consultant practitioner posts, is envisaged as responding to patient and organisational needs within a reformed National Health Service while leading clinical practice. The UKCC recommends that nurse consultants contribute to the education of future clinical practitioners as well as influencing health policy, management, the development of care strategies and research. Pay scales that reflect the complexity, experience and academic achievement required by nurse consultants are also needed.
