Dietary restraint and weight gain during pregnancy
Article Abstract:
A UK study of the eating habits of 62 pregnant women, showed that it is not beneficial to restrict food consumption during pregnancy. The pregnant mothers ate similar food, but those who restrained their consumption drank more alcohol in early and late pregnancy. Nearly 50% of those who restrained their food consumption put on more weight than is recommended during pregnancy. Women need to be better informed about weight gain in pregnancy.
