Disruption of methylarginine metabolism impairs vascular homeostasis
Article Abstract:
The function of dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase 1 (DDAH-1) is examined by deleting the Ddah 1 gene in mice and by using DDAH-specific inhibitors that bind to the active site of human DDAH-1. The results have shown that the loss of DDAH-1 activity leads to accumulation of ADMA (asymmetric dimethylarginine) and reduction in NO signaling.

Secrets of a superbug
Article Abstract:
Two studies have examined the pathogenesis of the new antibiotic-resistant epidemic strains in Staphylococcus aureus. The studies have identified the clear role for specific virulence determinants in the pathogenesis of invasive community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) infections.
