Exploring the use of action research to stimulate and evaluate workplace health promotion
Article Abstract:
The Bedfordshire Health Authority launched the Bedfordshire Healthy Workplace Project in 1992 to stimulate an interest in health promotion in the workplace, particularly in small and medium-sized firms. Bedfordshire Health decided to use the action research approach, which involves participants in developing the project and evaluating the results. This approach allows the aims of the health authority, and the interests of the business community in cost-effectiveness, to coincide. The project, which aimed to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, is evaluated.

New developments in genetic testing and screening
Article Abstract:
The range of genetic screening and testing is showing an expansion, both for those want to minimize the risk or eliminate the inheritance of a condition, and those who are exposed to high risk of a disease and want to avail the possible treatment. The nurses and genetic counsellors should be aware of the new developments in the field, understand the condition of the people, guide the patients about testing and treatment and refer them for help and counseling.
