Dissemination of printed information for patients: a qualitative study of general practices
Article Abstract:
There are significant variations in attitudes towards and use of printed information for patients among health professionals in the UK, according to research based on a survey of 33 general practices. There are indications that leaflet-giving behaviour is determined by a complex set of inter-related factors. The most important factors include perceptions of individual patients, assumptions about the value of printed information and perceptions of health professionals' role. Internal organizational issues also play a role in determining which health professionals use what printed information for which patients.

Whose neighbourhood? Whose quality of life? Developing a new agenda for children's health in urban settings
Article Abstract:
Children are increasingly seen as a problem in urban environments, which tend to restrict their freedom and quality of life. Opportunities to be independent are restricted and children are unable to play and take part in urban life safely. A study exploring how children living in a large UK city spend their leisure time suggests that their lack of activity amd their sense of insecurity and fear are more important issues for health educators than their declining participation in organised sporting activities.
