Doctors enter political fray over late-term abortions
Article Abstract:
Congress is expected to override Pres Clinton's veto of a proposed law to ban a late-term abortion technique called partial-birth, or intact dilation and evacuation. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists opposes the bill as government meddling in medical decisions, and the AMA declines to support either side. The proposed ban is supported by a majority of physicians including a group of doctors called Physicians' Ad Hoc Coalition for Truth.
