Drug companies accused of stalling tailored therapies
Article Abstract:
A July 2006 report based on the dozens of pharmaceutical company documents and filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission has stated that drug companies often abandon drugs that would benefit only a genetic subset of people and even obstruct research on genes that would predict drug response. Drug makes denied the accusation made by the report by arguing that they are only trying to identify genetic factors that affect their products' effectiveness and that critical generalizations are unfounded.
