Efforts to meet world health goals lag
Article Abstract:
The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for more rapid development of local, national, and regional health systems to combat high death rates from preventable diseases and conditions in developing countries. Andrew Cassels, WHO's director of millennium development goals, health and development policy, however revealed that at the existing rate of improvement, some goals would not be reached for several years due to inadequate funding levels.

Article Abstract:
The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association have updated their guidelines for the management of hemorrhagic stroke with new recommendations, including initial assessment and imaging, medical and surgical treatment and end-of-life concerns. The treatment guidelines have addressed end-of-life issues for the first time, which has also included the concerns about the early use of do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders.

Some scientists believe that since there is little room for improvement with current treatments, future advances will come from gene-based therapy.
