Article Abstract:

PinnacleHealth a four-hospital health system in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, explored the integration of evidence-based knowledge within the electronic health record to increase the expertise of their highly skilled nursing professionals in assessing, planning, evaluating and communicating patient care. The program has led to cultural transformation among the nursing team by shifting from executing orders to managing patient problems and from task-based documentation to knowledge-based decision making.
