Perinatal outcome associated with outpatient management of triplet pregnancy
Article Abstract:
It may be better to hospitalize women pregnant with triplets during their third trimester even though outpatient management might save money. Researchers compared infant and maternal outcomes in 32 triplet pregnancies that were managed in the hospital and 34 that were managed with bed rest on an outpatient basis. Outpatient management reduced total length of hospitalization for the mother but not the infant. Birth weights were higher and premature births less likely in the hospitalized women. Preeclampsia and fetal brain hemorrhage were more likely to occur in the outpatient group.

Neonatal outcomes in triplet gestations after a trial of labor
Article Abstract:
Vaginal delivery of triplets may be as safe as delivery by cesarean section. Researchers compared the outcome of 33 triplets born vaginally with 33 triplets born by elective cesarean section. Vaginal deliveries were successful in 29 cases, while four cases required cesarean sections during labor complications. Newborns delivered by cesarean section were more likely to develop respiratory distress syndrome than those delivered vaginally.
