Ethical conflicts in regulating the start of life
Article Abstract:
Technological interventions on the reproductive process such as abortion, prenatal screening of the fetus (fetal screening), in vitro fertilization (IVF), and intensive care for preterm infants raised ethical questions that still remain unsolved. Each of these interventions also have a separate guiding principle that justifies its implementation. Variation in the principle can be due to specialization of health care, varying aim of each intervention, the way medical practice works and how new technology is introduced to the practice.

When restrictions become restraints
Article Abstract:
Restrictive covenants are increasingly being used in medical training programs, requiring students to sign non-competitive documents before they are accepted into competitive programs. The American Medical Association frowns upon such covenants because they give these institutions unequal bargaining power. Furthermore, these documents interfere with the patient-physician relationship.
