Evaluation of multiple frequency bioelectrical impedance and Cole-Cole analysis for the assessment of body water volumes in healthy humans
Article Abstract:
The accuracy and reliability of a new technique for estimating extracellular water (ECW) and total body water (TBW) in humans was tested. This prediction method, which has yielded reliable ECW and TBW figures when used in tests on animals, is based on the use of Cole-Cole analysis of measurements taken using multiple frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (MFBIA). Results showed that ECW and TBW estimates obtained using Cole-Cole analysis were slightly more accurate than estimates obtained through anthropometric assessments made on the basis of gender, height and weight.

Home enteral tube feeding in East Anglia
Article Abstract:
The administration of home enteral tube feeding (HETF) helps seriously disabled patients. A study in East Anglia, UK, indicated that the uneven district-wise distribution of HETF is possibly due to variations in the available support staff and local expertise. The quality of care was not always in accordance with standards set by the British Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the King's Fund report.
