Evaluation of sexual misconduct complaints: The Oregon Board of Medical Examiners, 1991 to 1995
Article Abstract:
Information about sexual misconduct by Oregon doctors can be used to establish a baseline for future evaluations. Between 1991 and 1995, 6% of the complaints presented to the Board of Medical Examiners involved accusations of sexual misconduct versus 4% or less for the national average. The allegations were nearly evenly divided into accusations of inappropriate comments, inappropriate touching and engaging in a sexual relationship or deriving sexual pleasure from physical contact. Obstetrics and gynecology and psychiatry had the highest incidence of both complaints and reportable disciplinary actions.
