Article Abstract:
Amanda Freeman, winner of the 2005 Nursing Times Awards Infection Control category, set about involving a group of patients in a special health authority project to help eradicate health-care associated infections (HAIs). Patient input was a key part of Amanda's project, a clinical benchmark aimed at reducing the incidence of HAIs across all services in the Strategic Health Authority's (StHA's) region and team approach was crucial to success.
