Helping nurses kick the habit
Article Abstract:
Studies reveal that despite being aware of the health hazards, about one-third of nurses continue to smoke. The University College London Hospitals Trust Stop Smoking Service and Staff Support Programme adopt a holistic approach and cover areas such as increasing self-esteem and happiness as well as smoking, addiction and stress reduction, offering a programme for eight weeks, with weekly coaching sessions for staff, giving free nicotine replacement therapy, weekly evaluation, and at the end of the programme, staff who have successfully quit the programme receive a report and a certificate.

A study of senior staff nurses' perceptions about MRSA
Article Abstract:
A study investigates the extent to which staff nurses in the UK feel that methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is out of control and that any attempts by them to control it are unnecessary. Results show that 60% of experienced staff nurses believe that MRSA is out of control and are not overly concerned about its management.
