Exploring children's perceptions of health: does drawing really break down barriers?
Article Abstract:
Researchers wanted to see if drawing was useful in helping children think more about their health, so they asked three groups of school children to draw and write, draw and label or write only about their ideas. The write and draw approach showed how children connect ideas, the label and write approach was good for obtaining children's ideas about physical signs of illness while the write only group did not give as much detail or take as long over the exercise. All three methods can be useful in different circumstances and none is necessarily better than another.
