The case of a 51-year-old man who appeared to have had a stroke illustrates the fact that some strokes originate in the heart. He had a strong family history of heart disease, but did not know the exact nature of the disease. His fatigue and weakness progressed and an echocardiogram revealed an atrial myxoma. This is a tumor inside the heart that can cause blood clots to form. If the blood clots travel to the brain, they can cause a stroke.

Open your eyes to nighttime driving

Article Abstract:

Nighttime driving can be dangerous, as many drivers involved in nighttime collisions have learned too late. Poor night vision, particularly among those age 20 years old and above, and fatigue after a hard day's work explain why driving at night can be dangerous. In addition, alcohol intake prior to driving is a major cause behind nighttime accidents. Tips for nighttime drivers are presented.
