Fat, keeping the heart healthy?
Article Abstract:
The role of the hormone adiponectin in cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury is investigated, in which blood flow to the heart is blocked and then reestablished. Results reveal that mice deficient in adiponectin had increased heart damage after reperfusion, whereas mice overexpressing adiponectin were protected from injury.

Free fatty acids regulate gut incretin glucagon-like peptide-1 secretion through GPR120
Article Abstract:
A G-protein-coupled receptor, GPR120, which is abundantly expressed in the intestine, functions as a receptor for unsaturated long chain free fatty acids (FFAs). FFAs provide an important energy source and also act as signaling molecules in various cellular processes, including the secretion of gut incretin peptides.

Acceleration of intestinal polyposis through prostaglandin receptor EP2 in Apc (super)delta716 knockout mice
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the prostaglandin H (sub)2. The homozygous deletion of the gene encoding prostaglandin H (sub)2's cell-surface receptor which causes intestinal polyps decrease in number and size in the mouse model of the human familial adenomatous polyposis.
