Fat preferences, dietary fat intake and body composition in children
Article Abstract:
Eighty-eight children aged nine to 12 were studied to assess the relationship between fat preference, dietary intake data and body composition in children. High dietary fat intakes were noted among children who preferred high-fat snack items. Such high-fat food preference correlated with the children's tricep skinfold measurement and body mass index. The study implies that, owing to diet composition, preference for high-fat foods may occur while increased adiposity can be associated with higher relative fat intakes.
