Forum debuts to answer your questions on ethics
Article Abstract:
The medical profession's ban on sexual relations with patients is rigid because of the unequal standing between a doctor and patient. Even if a patient consents to a relationship, it will be unclear whether the decision is based on the physician's status. Also discussed are the ethical ramifications of performing clinical research on unwitting patients and increasing doctors' compensation for reducing patients' hospital stays.

Be open with patients about fees
Article Abstract:
Physicians should be clear about their fees, either by posting the fees in the waiting room or supplying a pamphlet outlining the charges for procedures. Although some physicians are concerned that publishing their fees will lead to price competition among doctors, this type of competition will bring physicians who overcharge into line and allow patients to make informed choices.

Reflections on 'moral crisis' gripping medical profession
Article Abstract:
The doctor/patient relationship is a moral covenant that many physicians have abandoned in the pursuit of technology, money and political power. Re-establishing this relationship will require focusing on the patient's welfare over other interests, using technological advances when needed but not to replace caring, upholding life's sanctity and nurturing their own moral center.
