The connection between genetics and abdominal muscle development lies in the propensity of the fiber-type distribution of the rectus abdominis to store fat, with Type-1 fibers showing a high degree of fat distribution. Bodybuilders need to appreciate their genetic endowments and respond with a better training program to overcome difficulties in abdominal development.
