Guidelines for the restoration of endodontically treated teeth
Article Abstract:
Certain guidelines should be followed in the restoration of endodontically treated teeth (treatment of the dental pulp and surrounding tissue). The practitioner should minimize the loss of tooth structure by making the dowel diameter as small as possible, and necessary rigidity should be preserved. Posts should be as long as possible; longer posts have a greater rate of retention and capacity to resist fracture. An intact interior tooth with intact marginal ridges does not require a post or coronal coverage. However, a post or core is required if the tooth is to receive a crown. Cuspal coverage is needed for posterior teeth, with the exception of certain molars; posts are rarely needed in molars. Surface roughness of the post enhances its retention qualities, and all posts should have antirotation devices. Irregularities and vertical height should be left in the coronal preparation for the core to increase resistance form. Concentration of stress should be avoided during post insertion, and the core material must be of adequate strength. If possible, the post, core, and crown should consist of similar metals. Conducting systematic reviews and creating clinical practice guidelines in dentistry: Lessons learned
Article Abstract:
The experiences, insights and lessons learned by the Methodology Resource Group of the Canadian Collaboration on Clinical Practice Guidelines in Dentistry (CCCD) during the various stages of the research process are shared. This is done in order to carry out the first systematic review and develop the clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) on acute apical periodontitis (AAP) for the CCCD.

Latino oral health: a research agenda toward eliminating oral health disparities
Article Abstract:
The United States Census Bureau in the year 2000 presented that a large group of Hispanic community suffers from the oral health disparities. The Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) and the University of Puerto Rico School of Dentistry developed a scheme for research on Latino oral health in October 2004.
