Gulf War illness sorted into 3 syndromes
Article Abstract:
Medical investigations have produced evidence definitively linking military service during the Persian Gulf War to various ailments, diseases and disorders. The war-related afflictions fall into three primary syndrome categories: impaired cognition syndrome, confusion-ataxia syndrome and arthro-myo-neurotherapy syndrome. Results are based on testing performed on 249 Gulf War veterans, 63% of whom displayed evidence of some type of symptom.

Panel to monitor Pentagon's handling of Gulf War illnesses
Article Abstract:
The President's Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans' Illness provided its final report on Nov 8, 1997. The committee believes that major federal agencies did not work hard enough to define what caused the symptoms suffered by approximately 100,000 veterans of the Gulf War or to treat these symptoms. The committee proposed a new benefits system and an increase in research funds to investigate minimal exposure to chemical weapons.
