HHS pledges more doctor input, less red tape

Medicare is launching a pilot survey on carrier performance based on recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Medicare-Physician Relationships. Medicare is also implementing Committee-formulated changes designed to reduce carrier red tape. The reforms include requiring carriers to have their own physician advisory committees, explaining why claims are denied or reduced and simplifying claims appeals through telephone review.
