HIV incidence estimates among women of childbearing age in the area around Paris, France: no evidence for any effect of age or time
Article Abstract:
HIV incidence can be estimated from serial cross-sectional seroprevalence surveys using two different methods. This was the conclusion of French researchers who analyzed three HIV seroprevalence studies done in Paris in 1990-1991, 1992-1993, and 1994-1995.

Apoptotic effects in primary human umbilical vein endothelial cell cultures caused by exposure to virion-associated and cell membrane-associated HIV-1 gp120
Article Abstract:
The HIV envelope protein gp120 can cause cell death in the endothelium, including umbilical vein endothelium. The endothelium is the lining inside blood vessels. gp120 appears to interact with the CXCR4 and CCR5 cell receptors.
