Handling safety for patients with inflammatory arthritis

Studies reveal that moving and handling in the healthcare setting is heavily focused on the safety of healthcare workers while the importance of ensuring training in techniques is up to date. However, careful risk assessment should focus on reduction of injury to patients as much as to healthcare workers and patients with inflammatory arthritis could be particularly challenging due to the conditions and its symptoms.

New wristbands will tackle ID mistakes

The National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) has revealed introduction of a STANDARD identification wristband to be worn by all hospital patients across the NHS to avoid mix-ups and wrong treatment. Research commissioned by NPSA in 2003 found evidence of failures in effective use of wristbands across the country.
