Has OSHA passed all the easy standards?
Article Abstract:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) safety and health standards had to face legal proceedings before they were adopted and enforced. OSHA standards may take 10 years or more to develop but obstacles, such as changes in the persons in charge, can even lengthen the process even more. Moreover, more complicated and formal rule-making processes and changing requirements imposed by the US Supreme Court of Appeals have made it harder to present a standard to the public. Despite all these obstacles, the OSHA is committed to pursue the passage of safety standards that benefit the entire industrial community.

OSHA reform
Article Abstract:
The Clinton Administration passed two new amendments to the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in Congress simultaneously. The two new bills were both authored by Representative Cass Ballenger of North Carolina, one untitled and one entitled "The Occupational safety and Health Administration Authorization Act of 1998." The two bills, which concern penalty quotas and OSHA violation identification, contain nothing new or revolutionary for the program. The laws' provision for allowing on-site inspections of workplaces are already contained in the existing OSHA regulations.
