Has food fallen off the NHS agenda?
Article Abstract:
A survey by Healthcare Commission revealed that almost one-fifth of patients who need help to eat never receive it and only 20 eceive it occasionally, though, satisfaction with hospital food remains high. Nutrition nurses and caterers want NHS to create a national scheme for providing meals to the patients and the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) has appointed Caroline Lecko as its head nutrionist who will help trusts in improving their nutrition programme.

Improving the nutritional care of patients in hospital
Article Abstract:
The National Health Service in England launched the Better Hospital Food program in May 2001 in which hospitals were asked to comply with six mealtime requirements. A report on the progress of the program, which aims to improve food services and give back more control over food to nurses, is presented.
