Article Abstract:
The president of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons believes physicians must play a more active role in the changes sweeping through the US health care system. Many physicians did not want to get involved in the business of medicine. However, there were about 600 managed care organization in the US in 1998. Since managed care has a direct impact on patients, physicians must remain actively involved. An MBA degree might help physicians understand the business side of medicine.
