Here comes the sun
Article Abstract:
The risks of sunburn, skin ageing or developing skin cancer can be reduced by using an effective sunscreen. Sunscreens are available with various sun protection factors (SPF) and UVA factors for different skin types. People with skin type one are typically of Celtic origin and always burn. These people need a sunscreen with a SPF of 20 or above whereas people with skin type six, who are generally of African or Indian origin, are unlikely to burn, even without a sunscreen. While the SPF is the most important aspect to consider, sunscreens with a UVA factor rating of four stars provide the best protection.

Article Abstract:
Exposure to sunlight can cause an unpleasant, generally very itchy rash, known as polymorphic light eruption (PLE), in people who are particularly sensitive to the sun. The rash occurs in a variety of forms, including vesicles (blisters) and papules (small lumps) and varies in its severity. PLE typically affects exposed sites such as the hands, arms, neck and upper chest. Desensitising treatment is available and severe symptoms can be relieved with a five-day course of oral steroids. Research has shown that PLE symptoms can also be prevented by using one particular factor 30 UVA sunscreen.

In harm's ray
Article Abstract:
Excessive tanning can cause serious health problems such as skin cancer, premature aging and cataracts. Dermatologists, who advice the use of sunscreens, also stress that radiation from tanning salons can lead to serious allergic reactions and damage immune systems.
