In AMA's youth survey: 20% say they drive drunk
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Assn's 1996 survey of 18-30 year-old adults showed that caucasian youth are more likely to drink than youth in other races. Twenty percent of respondents admitted that they drive drunk; 7% of men said that they drink and drive frequently. Young people in the 19-20 year-old range were most likely to drink six or more drinks at a time than other groups. Additional statistics about drinking and young adults are presented.

Pleading for compliance: pediatricians implored to vaccinate infants against hepatitis B
Article Abstract:
Many physicians are resisting new hepatitis B prevention guidelines recommending infant inoculation. Physicians claim that the vaccine's effect is too temporary and the odds for disease contraction in infants too minimal. The new guidelines were instituted in 1991 after a strategy to inoculate high-risk patients failed. The consequences of hepatitis infection can be grim. 15% of those infected each year eventually die of liver disease.
