Article Abstract:
The UK National Health Service often fails to learn from the drug errors made by its staff, according to a report from the Dept of Health. There is a need to create a culture in which reporting of drug errors is welcomed and in which there are systems to assess these errors and learn from them.

Is rationing the only way forward for the NHS?
Article Abstract:
Two contrasting opinions concerning the need for the rationing of the investment and resources within the National Health Service (NHS) are presented. The ability of the NHS to provide for all demands made on it is discussed.

Intensive pressure

Issues are presented concerning the shortage of intensive care facilities in hospitals. The increasing pressure on staff in surgical, medical and general wards who have to cope with critically ill patients is discussed.
