Home challenge
Article Abstract:
The Family Health Service Agency for Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow has developed a community-based scheme for clients with acute mental illnesses. This ensures that clients can be supported in their own home, rather than having to be admitted to hospital. Work is based on a 'matrix' care approach, ensuring that there is full communication across traditional care boundaries. The home nursing team visits clients very frequently, and can provide care at all times of day and night, every day of the year.

Hepatitis B and the police force
Article Abstract:
Police officers working in the inner cities face heightened risk from hepatitis B. Common sources of infections are intravenous drug addicts and prostitutes who attack officers, or scratches from contaminated syringes. Officers attached to drug or vice squads are at the highest level of risk. Because up to 10% of those infected will become chronic carriers, immunisation is recommended for those at greatest risk of infection.
