How long is too long: Does a prolonged second stage of labor in nulliparous women affect maternal and neonatal outcomes?
Article Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to examine maternal and neonatal outcomes in relation to lengthening intervals of the second stage of labor. Although the length of the second stage of labor is not associated with poor neonatal outcome, a prolonged second stage is associated with increased maternal morbidity and operative delivery rates.

Are there ethnic differences in the length of labor?
Article Abstract:
The lengths of the first and second stages of labor among different racial/ethnic groups are examined. The differences found in the lengths on the first and second stages of labor are important, as it has contributed to the support of a multifactorial redefinition of labor curves, which are used in the management of labor.
