Hungry fears
Article Abstract:
A lot of Britain's pregnant women can not afford a healthy, balanced diet, particularly those who are on benefits, according to a report by the Maternity Alliance and National Children's Homes Action for Children. Of the sampled pregnancies, over 60% of babies had a below-average birthweight and 75% had a greater than average risk of ill-health. The report calls for the Dept of Health to investigate the reasons behind the published results and to run more educational campaigns to improve healthy eating habits for pregnant women.

A&E - why so complacent
Article Abstract:
Elder abuse often remains undetected by staff in A&E departments. This could be due to the lack of attention given to the problem in the nursing curriculum. More optimism has however been generated with the introduction of Project 2000 programmes incorporating elderly care modules. Elderly care nursing still has a negative image, posible because geratric medicine is a relatively new clinical specialty.
