Hybrid capture 2 viral load and the 2-year cumulative risk of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 or cancer
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine the clinical value of a semi-quantitative measure of human papillomavirus viral load by the hybrid capture 2 assay for stratification of the risk of histologic cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 (CIN3) or carcinoma. It was found that among women with atypical cells of unknown significance or low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion cervical findings, the hybrid capture 2 viral load measurement did not significantly improve the detection of 2-year cumulative cases of CIN3 or carcinoma.

The distribution of neoplasia arising on the cervix: Results from the ALTS trial
Article Abstract:
A study aims to evaluate the topographic distribution of precancerous intraepithelial lesions on the cervix. Even though more cervical intraepithelial neoplasia might develop at the anterior and posterior lips of the cervix, the evidence is weak and confounded by a tendency of the anterior and posterior quadrants to be acetowhite even in the absence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.

Colposcopy at a crossroads
Article Abstract:
The roles of cytology and colposcopy as a tool to diagnose cervical neoplasia and the possible steps that might lead to improvement in colposcopic accuracy are discussed. By subjecting colposcopy to rigorous, formal study in collaboration with many colposcopies, the evaluation can be made more robust, reliable and sensitive.
